Transmission Break-In Process

After installing your freshly rebuilt transmission, breaking in the new clutches is a critical part of the entire process. Prior to putting the car on the dyno or running the car at full power where the transmission will be under max load, you must complete the simple steps listed below. Failure to do so can result in premature failure of the clutches.

Most importantly, you need to make sure that you fill the transmission with enough fluid and perform the bleed procedure correctly. Not having enough fluid in the transmission will cause issues and in most cases not allow the transmission to shift properly.

  • Perform transmission re-adaptation process / re-learn procedure (if possible).

  • Required 500 break-in miles of easy stop and go driving.

  • While driving you should be periodically running through the gears, up-shifting and down-shifting.

  • Do NOT just cruise on the highway for 100 miles, this will not properly break in the clutches.
